You will begin the safari from any agreed point in Kigali, Rwanda with a short city tour, where you’ll visit the Rwanda genocide memorial grounds to learn and re-discover the tragedy of 1994 Rwanda genocide. Then proceed to Volcanoes national park which is Rwanda’s best national park known for gorillas and Dian Fossey grave. Arrive and check in the accommodation booked for a night.
Begin the adventure of gorilla trekking after the head ranger guide has briefed you about the dos and don’ts to guide you while carrying out this experience. All this will begin with breakfast at the lodge and then the driver will take you to the starting point. You are required to be patient while in the forest and physically fit since no one can predict the location of these endangered mountain gorillas. Upon locating these beautiful apes, you will spend an hour with them but the whole experience can take about 4 to 6 hours. In the afternoon, you will take a tour to the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera where you will embark on a canoe ride or boat cruise hence exploring the beautiful scenery. Return to the lodge for dinner in the evening.
Have a relaxed breakfast on this day at the lodge and then check out followed by a transfer to Virunga national park in Democratic Republic of Congo. The journey can approximately take about 4 to 5 hours’ drive and the two hours will be spend on lake Kivu enjoying a beautiful scenery. You will have a stopover at Goma boarder for checking the travel documents and at the same time getting what you will need while in this great African country. Then you will proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
You will spend almost half day in the jungle of Virunga national park on this day where you will be trekking the mountain gorillas. This park is among other oldest Africa’s national park hence has a lot to see while on this great activity. The experience will automatically begin with briefing at the park offices and then you will start the search as you follow the sounds, broken tree branches and many more. Spend an hour in their presence and then you will be told to find your way back at the park offices to meet the driver guide who will take you back to the lodge.
Drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park in Uganda after your breakfast on this day and this park is famous to host almost half of the gorilla population. Researchers say that there are over 469 gorilla individuals in this park and 19 habituated gorilla families found in four sectors (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo). You will traverse in the green lush vegetation, magnificent hilly areas and lunch will be served enroute. Head to the lodge of the sector where you will track the next morning.
Like the previous days, you will head to the park offices for briefing and then begin the gorilla trekking experience where you will spend 1 to 5 hours in the jungle as you trek the endangered mountain gorillas. An hour will be located to you while in the face to face contact with the gorillas. After a great experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch and then embark on another adventure of visiting the Batwa community. You will learn more as you gent entertained from this people who were the earlier inhabitants of Bwindi forest but evicted due to conservation practices. After, you will call off the night at the lodge with delicious breakfast and nap.
Have an early breakfast and embark on the journey to Kampala where you will have different stopovers like one in Mbarara town and another one in Kayabwe at a point where equator crosses Uganda and this will be another rewarding experience where you will be taking photos, magical experience and even buying some souvenirs (handmade crafts) in the craft shops. After proceed to Kampala and be dropped at the airport.
