The 4 days Kahuzi-Biega gorillas and Nyungwe chimpanzee trekking safari is perfect for travellers who are interested in watching and visiting chimpanzees as well as lowland gorillas. Chimpanzees will be trekked in Nyungwe forest national park in south-western Rwanda while the Eastern lowland gorillas are hosted in Kahuzi-Biega national park while on the gorilla trekking experience.

Head into the forest with the help of a park ranger guide and all this will begin with briefing after breakfast. The park ranger guide will explain the dos and don’ts which are the precautions that will help you while on the walk in the forest. The park guide will take you to the forest to start the trek and this will reward you with the best experience and this will be at the moment when you meet the Chimpanzees in a group commonly called a troop. The troop members will be playing jumping, moving or even breast feeding and all these moments will be recorded with videos and photos. An hour will be spent while in the presence and after you will transfer to D.R. Congo, a journey that will take about 2 hours’ drive. Arrive in Bukavu and head to your lodge for dinner and night stay.
Head for briefing that is very important while carrying out a gorilla trekking experience. This exercise covers aspects like the historical background of the park, the dos and don’ts to follow while trekking endangered lowland gorillas. The trek begins and you will be starting the walk through the forest where you will encounter while exploring different attractions like olive baboons, colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys and many more with different bird species. Upon locating lowland gorillas, you will have valuable time watching them play, move, feed and this will create everlasting memories as you take photos.
Have a tasty breakfast and cross back to Rwanda. The journey will take about 6 to 7 hours’ drive, through the towns of Kamembe, Butare and Huye. You may also take an optional activity in Kigali city depending on your time of departure. Visit places like former presidential Palace museum, local markets and museums.
