The safari will take you to Nyungwe forest national park that shelters over 13 primates, beautiful bird species and much more with scenic views of vast tea plantations.
You have an hour in the presence of chimpanzees watching them play, breastfeed, walk and relate with each other. Nyungwe forest therefore in one of the remaining untouched forests in Africa that hosts these rare apes. You may as well visit other enroute destinations like local markets, genocide museums and former presidential Palace museum on your last day.
Detailed Itinerary
Arrive and be picked from the airport or hotel in Kigali and immediately transfer to Nyungwe Forest National park, which hosts over 13 primates. This park is amazing and rewards you with beautiful scenery that is eye catching. You will check in the accommodation facility upon arrival and this will mark the end of day one.
This day will begin with breakfast and later drive to the park offices where you will be able to attend a briefing exercise. Thereafter, head in the forest under the guidance of a park ranger to search for the chimpanzees together with fellow trekkers. After 1-5 hours, you will meet a troop of chimpanzees as they play, move and feed. This experience will last for an hour but the search may take over 2 hours. Other attractions that will be spotted in the forest include unique birds and primates. After, you will head back to the lodge for lunch and later head for a canopy walk adventure. Enjoy an aerial view of Nyungwe forest with its attractions like the primates, bird species and butterflies.
Check out from your place of accommodation and immediately transfer to Kigali with a tour at the former presidential Palace museum for a short visit, genocide center in Kigali, local market and then you will later on be dropped at the airport or hotel for overnight stay and this will be the end of your 3 days chimpanzee safari in Rwanda.
