Explore the second largest primates in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park of Uganda through 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Tour. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national Park is known to host half of the mountain gorilla population and consists about 19 habituated gorilla families, ready for trekking every day. You will be entitled to trek only one gorilla family but you will spot other primates like olive baboons, olive baboons, red tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys and much more. Other attractions that will be spotted include bird species, butterflies, flora, reptiles and much more. This tour will also involve several stopovers. Visit the equator monument at Kayabwe where the equator divides Uganda into southern and northern hemisphere. There is also an optional activity of visiting the Batwa community where you will learn about the history and lifestyle of this soft spoken tribe in Uganda.
Detailed Itinerary
You will be picked from Kampala or Entebbe and straight away begin a journey that will take you to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park for next day’s adventure. The road trip will be amazing as it will take about 8 hours of drive. Have a stopover at the Uganda equator for photography and then proceed to Mbarara city where you will be served with lunch. Proceed as you pass through terraced hills, plantations, farm lands and many more. Arrive and head to the lodge and dine.
Have breakfast in the morning at the lodge and then have a short drive to the park offices for briefing. This exercise will be conducted by the ranger guide who will take you through what to do and what you are not supposed to do while in the forest. Be positioned in a group of 8 people who will trek the booked gorilla family. Straight away, you will start the trek by beginning the walk from the office into the forest. Upon locating the gorilla group, spend an hour in their presence and this will be a remarkable experience in your lifetime. The overall experience can take about 2 to 5 hours depending on the speed, location of the endangered mountain gorillas and many more. After head back to the lodge for lunch which will be followed by an optional activity of visiting Batwa community at the periphery of Bwindi forest. This is one of the unique African cultures that is highly attractive to visit and you will learn more about their dances, music, lifestyle, local dishes preparation and art and crafts.
Have breakfast and transfer to Kampala as you take several stopovers including a museum tour at Igongo Cultural Centre to learn about the rich culture of Bakiga and Banyankole. Another stopover will be at the Uganda equator in Kayabwe, where you can buy the souvenirs, take a geographical experiment and have lunch. Proceed to Kampala and be dropped at the airport in Entebbe for departure.
