This 4 Days Congo Gorilla Safari and Nyiragongo Hike will take you to Virunga national park in Democratic Republic of Congo where you will be able to explore beautiful sceneries as you take part in gorilla trekking and hiking mount Nyiragongo, the only active volcano in the Virunga area. Detailed Itinerary
The assigned park ranger guide will pick you either from the hotel or airport in the morning and you will immediately begin the transfer to Virunga national park in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The surrounding scenery is amazing, covered with different hills, vegetation and valleys. Cross the border with enroute lunch and proceed to the booked accommodation on your arrival and this will be the end of 1st day.
Breakfast will commence in the morning, followed by a short drive to the park offices where you will receive briefing. This exciting exercise is very important on this great day since it covers the dos and don’ts to follow while in the jungle, gorilla information and all the details of each gorilla family to be trekked. You will there after start the trek with guidance of the armed park ranger who is well knowledgeable about this great national park and its inhabitants. Locate the gorilla family and spend an hour in their presence while on a keen watch to see how they move, play, breast feed if they have young ones, and much more. After you will trek back to the lodge and rest as you prepare for the next day hike of Nyiragongo mountain.
Breakfast will be served to begin the day and your driver guide will drive to the headquarters at Kibati ranger Post. Receive briefing and hire porters to help you carry some of your luggage. Sign in the book and begin a hike to the Nyiragongo Volcano which is one of the active volcanic mountains in the world. The trail passes through forests, open spaces, lava rocks as you enjoy beautiful sceneries of the surrounding environment. The hike will last for 6 hours and this will depend on your speed but also, you can take less or more. Enjoy the volcano summit that has a boiling lava lake and then head to the base camp where you will spend a night.
Start the day with morning breakfast and later descend to the ranger station at Kibati to be able to sign out. The driver guide will welcome you back and make a transfer back to Kigali Rwanda via Goma border and this will mark the end of your 4 days Congo Gorilla safari and Nyiragongo hike.
