Take part in this short tour where you will visit the mighty Senkwekwe Gorilla Orphanage at the headquarters of Virunga national Park. This Orphanage was named after the death of Rugendo gorilla family leader called Senkwekwe when he died in 2007 killed by the rebels. You will therefore discover the gorillas that have survived from poaching, loosing parents, attacks and many more. You will begin the tour from Kigali and then transfer to Virunga on the same day, second day visit the gorilla Orphanage and on the third day, head back to Kigali.
Detailed Itinerary
Arrive and be picked from Kigali International Airport in the Rwanda and first go through briefing about this 3 Days Senkwekwe Gorilla Orphanage tour. You will start the journey to the DR Congo where you will take part in visiting the Senkwekwe Gorilla Orphanage the next morning. The time taken to reach Virunga national park will be 5 to 6 hours including time spent in the border crossing. You will be welcomed by the manager at the lodge in the evening who will take you through the guidelines to follow and to get used about the lodge. Check in at your accommodation.
Great day to remember and to come on this day which will begin with breakfast and then transfer to the briefing point. The amazing experience will begin immediately where you will have while in the presence of gorillas. Learn how to name the gorillas, the way they associate with care takers and as you take memorable photos. Most common names for the mountain gorillas are Yalala, Mutabishi, Maisha, Kaboko and many others. You will return to the lodge premises and then take an optional activity of taking a forest walk where you will spot some of the forest inhabitants like the bird species, plants and Primates like the varvet monkeys, red tailed monkeys and many more. Another night will be spent at the lodge and this will be the end of day two.
Wake up on your breakfast and head to Kigali Rwanda where you will be able to board your flight back home. Lunch enroute will be served and this will create memories since the lunch spot has great view. You have an option of visiting some of the attractions in Kigali City like the Kigali genocide memorial site.
