Detailed Itinerary
Travel to the only savannah national park in Rwanda which is Akagera located on the border of Rwanda and Tanzania. The park gets its name from Akagera River which is the main water point and lifeline to the wildlife in this historical park. Arrive and depending on arrival time, you will take an afternoon / evening game drive where you will be able to spot different wild animals like rhinos, giraffes, warthogs, elephants, buffalos and so much more. The game drive will take only 2 hours but it will be rewarding. Check in for dinner and overnight at any booked lodge.
On this day, you will be taken to the starting point and be briefed about the experience of hot air ballooning. The pilot will fly the balloon in the air and you will get an aerial view of the beautiful scenery together with the wild animals like the Masai giraffes, rhinos, elephants, buffalos, hyenas, jackals, eland, bush bucks and many more. This experience will end in 2 hours’ time and you will be welcomed by a glass of champagne or juice. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on Lake Ihema in the southern sector of Akagera national park. An afternoon boat trip exposes you to animals like crocodiles, hippos and numerous birds like fish eagles, vultures, cranes, Ibis, storks, and many more. Lake Ihema boat cruise lasts for 2 hours, creating everlasting memories.
Have an early morning game drive where you will be able to spot more of Akagera national park rare gems, early risers and nocturnals like lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, vultures, and rare birds. Proceed after breakfast as you drive back to Kigali. You will be dropped at the airport or hotel and this marks the end of your 3 days Rwanda Wildlife Safari.
